It's a non competitive race open to everyone on the last 10 kms of the Venicemarathon race course. The start is from the Exposport Venicemarathon Village – San Giuliano Park in Mestre, Porta Blu, and the finish line is in Venice in Riva Sette Martiri right where the Venicemarathon finishes. The race course is one of the nicest and most picturesque in the world, thanks to the unique bridge on the Grand Canal built for the race, the marvelous detour in St Mark's Sq. and the finish line between people cheering in Riva Sette Martiri.
Sunday, 27th October 2019.
Start time

The start will be given at 8:30am approximately from San Giuliano Park – Porta blu. There will be three different waves: one at 8:30am for the competitive race and two for the fun run at 8:35am and 8:40am.
The exact start time will be decided the day before the race, according to operational needs and TV broadcasting needs.

Bib number pick up

The race packet with the bib number and the official T-Shirt could be picked up at the Venicemarathon Expo Village – Porta Blu – inside San Giuliano Park in Venice on: Friday 25th October from 10am to 8pm and Saturday 26th October from 9am to 8pm.

Pre-Race Transportation

You can get to the start line in San Giuliano Park using buses provided by the organization for only registered athletes.

Personal kit bag transportation

Athletes will be allowed to use the kit bags provided by the organization ONLY (they will be distributed with the bibs).
Note! Other types of bags will not be accepted.

Start area services
In the start area runners will find facilities to change and many toilets.

The Timing Data Service chip is attached to the bib number and it will record the net time of the race. Do not remove it, no chip no time! The timing chip is disposable therefore it doesn’t need to be given back.

VM10K Pacing Team

Pacemakers are your guardian angels during the race!
A group of athletes are at your disposal and will help you to finish the marathon recording your goal!
They are the VM10K Pacers leaded by Julia Jones and they are ready to guide you during the VM10K on 27th October.
During the next weeks we will know closely each of them with some interviews in which we asked them to tell us more about their passion and their choice of being pacers. Some of them are veterans (they ran with the "balloons" of Venicemarathon for several years), others are beginners in this role, so they will bring the "first time" enthusiasm and adrenaline.
So, give yourself a time goal, look for your pacer and get ready to follow his/her balloon!

Mestre – San Giuliano Park, Porta Blu (Blue Entrance)
Venezia – Riva Sette Martiri.
10,7km aproximately.
After starting from San Giuliano Park in Mestre (Porta blu - Venicemarathon Exposport Village) athletes will reach Venice crossing the 4 km long bridge: Ponte della Libertà (Freedom Bridge) to enter the new Harbour area and reach the historic centre of the city, where the nicest and most spectacular part of the race course starts. Runners will run by the Canale della Giudecca up to the Punta della Dogana, here athletes will cross the Grand Canal on a bridge, built for the Venicemarathon. Then the course leads runners through St. Mark Sq. , next to the Campanile and the Palazzo Ducale to reach the finish line in Riva Sette Martiri.
The VM10K course is basically flat and fast. There are just a few difficulties: in the final 3 kilometres the running surface will be mainly made of large rectangular stone slabs.
The course is entirely closed to traffic and every kilometer is marked.
Course highlights
Zattere, a 2-km-long embankment next to the Giudecca Canal, where athletes run close to the water.
The Bridge over the Grand Canal, a 170-meters-long bridge which is built just before the marathon and dismantled the night after.
Piazza San Marco and Palazzo Ducale, historical Venice landmarks.
Finish line in Riva Sette Martiri, in the picturesque waterfront of St. Mark's Basin.
